Abstract

This video discusses two themes: Bökh Geevei and the history of the Torghut royal family in Bayangol. Hailing from Hobogsair, Bökh Geevei was both a Buddhist lama and a strong wrestler, particularly renowned for his decisive actions in protecting his people during the Dungan revolt and saving many Torghuts who were kidnapped by Muslim communities. He is the ancestor of Tsoohor Sum in Hejing County. The second theme explored here is the Torghut royal family in Bayangol. Mantsugjav Khan is the last Torghut Khan who was claimed to be poisoned by Yang Zixin, the governor of Xinjiang at the time. Mantsugjav was an active cavalryman when the Dungan revolt engulfed southern Xinjiang, decisively fighting against the revolt and achieving significant success. Mantsugjav’s wife was an Inner Mongolian girl whom Senchin Gegen, Mantsugjav’s uncle, arranged for him when he was young.
