Abstract
Human figures, horses and carts in a town setting.
Description
Drawing. The sky is blank, the sun shining from behind and to the right of the viewer. In the midground--background, we again recognise the dome and towers of Montevideo Cathedral, here more indistinctly sketched, in the right centre of the picture. The foreground is blank. In the left midground, not attached to horses or oxen, stands an unladen large cart with wheels some 2m in diameter. Behind and to the right of it there is a saddled horse, seen flank-on facing right, and two seated human figures. Further to the right is a large covered waggon, also detached, and with an unsaddled horse standing side-on facing right. This group stretches into the centre of the picture directly to the left of the building. In the centre--right of the picture, outlines of smaller walls and buildings are indicated; there is also some indication of vegetation in front of the walls on the right.
