Abstract

An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the building of a new sewer at Madingley hall, Cambridgeshire (NGR TL 394 604) . Archaeological deposits were observed from the early medieval field; the early 18th century formal gardens; the 1756-7 landscape gardens of capability Brown; and the late 19th and 20th century demolitions and re-buildings.
