Abstract

In this video, the focus is on the water worship ritual in Hobogsair. As interpreted by the Buddhist lama presiding over the ritual, it is deemed beneficial to symbolically offer foods and blessing words to the spring water adjacent to one’s pasture or the source from which one drinks. This practice not only aids in clearing the mind and averting various natural ailments but also fosters harmony with nature, by lama reciting auspicious sutras for the spring water. Tsagan, troubled by recurrent bad dreams and unexplained bodily pains, sought the guidance of the lama, who proposed holding a spring water worship ceremony. Subsequently, following the lama’s instruction, Tsagan and her children prepared offerings such as milk from a red-coloured cow, milk tea, rice, barley flour, and other delicacies to appease the water deity and invoke blessings.
