Abstract
Nadvid says that in the past Kalmyk matchmaking consisted of several stages. Matchmaking started with the parents of the groom paying a visit to the parents of the potential bride. Each stage entailed the observation of special rituals and customs. The wedding itself consisted of two celebrations: a celebration in the bride’s house and an ensuing celebration in the groom’s house.
