Drawing probably made during Stefano della Bella's stay in France, c. 1639-1649. A similar drawing is kept at Windsor, Windsor Castle, The Royal Library (Inv. RCIN 904561), also depicting Pegasus on Mount Helicon in the background. The motif of Pegasus also appears in engraved title pages, associated with the motto 'Genio non Ingenio' for instance in Estêvão Rodrigues de Castro, Simulato Posthuma Varietas (Florence, 1639).
