Drawing. The sky is blank, the sun shining from behind the viewer. In the left midground, forming the left horizon-line, we see a riverbank or shoreline, behind an expanse of water in the left foreground--midground (at low tide?). A large four-ox cart with wheels some 2m in diameter loaded with a (gun?) barrel, its rider holding a long riding crop, approaches a human figure at the water's edge in the left centre of the picture; between them at a greater distance there is an indistinct indication of a similar ox or horse and cart heading away from the viewer along the water's edge. Behind the shoreline runs a rough low foreshore on which clumps of tough-looking coarse grasses are indicated. In the left centre behind the figure at the water's edge is a building, seen side-on; this is the same building as that shown nearest the viewer on the left-hand side of the street in 12r. The remainder of the midground scene to the right of this building is a more distant and less distinct version of the scene in 12r. At the back of the foreground in front of the church lie two pairs of detached wagon-wheels, directly behind which is the approximate vantage point of 12r. In the foreground, the water's edge curves rightwards from a point near the standing figure to near the right-hand edge of the picture, and then back into the centre, with indications of rough low vegetation and a couple of small flat rocks on the near foreshore in the right foreground. In the right near-midground stands a two-storey building with a two-level flat roof, the higher level on the right-hand side, away from the front of building; a small square window faces the viewer from the upper storey towards front of building, under the lower part of the roof. On the ground floor to the right there is an arched window-opening. A human figure leading a laden packhorse approach to pass the front of building, heading towards the town. Trees or very large bushes are roughly indicated in the background behind this building, on the ground behind and to the right of the church, forming the right-hand part of the horizon.
