Abstract
The collection consists of audio recordings along with related photographs and videos. The project was mainly based on recording 20 hours of the Tejaji Ballad sung by the Mali (gardeners) community of the village Thikarda. But along with Thikarda, nightlong recordings were also done in some 23 other villages of Hadoti and surrounding region for a comparative study.
Description
This recording was done during the Jagran in which three goups from different villages were invited to perform in rounds. During the performance some of the singers preferred to sing on Harmonium instead of Algoja. These were mostly young singers who have got accustomed to sing on Harmonium which is much easiter instrument to play than the Algoja. Also the use of chimta (tongs like instrument) was noticed and two Dholaks were played simultaneously instead of one.
