206 x 152 mm. A view showing the bamboo and palm-thatched building, in front of which stand the teacher and a row of children. 'The teacher here is a well known man. Joseph Wate [sic] was on board the 'Southern Cross' when Patteson was killed at Nukapu, and has always borne a good character' (Montgomery, H.H (1896), 'The light of Melanesia'. London: SPCK, p.179).
