Abstract

Bayar, a dedicated Mongolian literature teacher at Khöndlen school, once held a prominent role as the head of his institute. However, in 2004, a restructuring of schools occurred, leading to the merger of rural schools with those in the town centre. Consequently, high school students joined the Mongolian high school in Hobogsair town, while primary classes were integrated into the Han Chinese school in Hoshtolgai town. This reshuffling resulted in Bayar’s transfer to the logistics centre at Hoshtolgai, as Mongolian literature was no longer part of the curriculum at his new school. Being affiliated with the Bag Juun Sum of Wang Banner, Bayar still identifies himself and his family with the Dörbet clan from the early period. This belief stems from his grandfather, who shared the story of their ancestor’s arrival in Hobogsair, that their ancestor came with the daughter of Dörbet Dalai Khan, who marred the Torghut Noyan of Hobogsair. This union led the family to be associated with the Wang Banner as part of the Bülchin group – a community serving the Noyan.
