Abstract

The Ikhe Khüre monastery underwent significant expansion in 2013, with the backing of Jurgan Sum Banner and approval of fourteenth incarnation of Shaliwan Gegen. This development included the construction of two temples and eight stupas positioned in front of the main complex. Each stupa, with its distinctive structure, holds unique significance, representing aspects such as fortune, the celestial realm (Tenger), incarnations of the living Buddha, and the pursuit of liberation from suffering. The monastery comprises two primary temples: Deity temple and the Chööjee temple. The Deity temple pays homage to revered figures like Tsongkapa, Gombo, Niiching, Gaadang, and Chööjee. In contrast, the Chogchin temple venerates Namsarai Buddha, Gombo Buddha, Laam deity and Dügür Buddha. Beyond these central deities, individual Sums within the Jurgan Sum Banner honour minor deities during their Oboo rituals and seasonal religious gatherings in summer and winter. The Chogchin temple also serves as a hub for Buddhist congregations, hosting morning periodical rituals and sutra chanting.
