Khökhee Taij: A Memory of the Dungan Revolt

Change log

Abstract

In this video, Balia recounts the story of a renowned hero, Khökhee Taij, who joined the Mongolian partisan troops and played a key role in expelling the Dungan rebels from Xinjiang. Khökhee, originally from Hobogsair, married into the Beis Noyan family in Khar Us. He enlisted in the army when the Dungan rebellion reached Urumqi. Alongside Khökhee, two other notable figures, Shar Öljeit and Bar Öljeet, assumed leadership roles in the revolutionary army. Tragically, both Shar and Bar lost their lives during the conflict. Their contributions, along with Khökhee’s leadership and bravery, are remembered for significantly by the Torghuts in Khar Us.
