Emblem I from Gabriel Rollenhaguen, Nucleus emblematum selectissimorum, Crispijn de Passe, 1611. This emblem portrays the opposition between life and death - the figure of Ingenium on the left (holding an armillary sphere), while everything else, including the wealth of the world, belongs to the decaying realm of death, shown on the right. Written in Latin and French.
