Description

Drawing found in Gesina's album of drawings in the Rijksmuseum and made after a written description from her friend, Henril Jordis, found in the pages that follow in the album. The central theme of the drawing is the triumph of painting over death, crushed by the female painter's foot and by the easel. On the side of the painter stands a figure that looks like the personification of ingenium, with wings on both sides of her head and crowned by laurel wreaths.
