This is the data collected as part of the Proactive Risk Evaluation for the Early Detection of Breast Cancer in younger women discrete choice experiment (PREVENT-Breast DCE). This study was funded by the Cancer Research UK International Early Detection of Cancer Alliance (ACED). Data were collected in July 2025.

Aims: In order to inform strategies for implementing breast cancer risk assessment within primary care, the aim of this study was to understand the importance of different attributes of such strategies and the trade-offs participants are willing to make. Secondarily, we aimed to estimate the proportion of people who are likely to take up different risk assessment strategies.

Dataset:

• 1 participant characteristics - anonymised participant demographics, cancer history, and cancer worry and perceived likelihood
• 2 further views on risk assessments - responses to additional items exploring wider perspectives
• 3 DCE - participants' choice responses to each question within the DCE
• 4 DCE evaluation - participants' evaluation of the DCE including ease and prioritisation of the attributes
• 5 DCE question matrix
