Abstract

Bulyash was born in 1929 in the village of Tagkh, but later her family moved to a place called Tyong. Both of her parents were orphans. Proficient in Russian and a responsible man, her father was director of the kholkhoz in Tyong. After the death of her father, Bulyash lived with her mother, two sisters, and brother. In 1943 her family was deported to Siberia where they spent the first winter in the kolkhoz of Panovka. In 1944 Bulyash and her sister moved to another place which in 1948 was turned into a Kalmyk kholkhoz. In 1950 Bulyash got married to Mandzhi Chumudov from the clan of Uuzhakhn. After the wedding, which was performed according to Kalmyk customs, she went to live with her husband's family. In 1957 Bulyash along with her husband and children returned to Kalmykia and settled in the village of Gashun Burgusta where she worked mainly on building sites. After her retirement in 1984, she worked in the local sovkhoz. Her husband died in 1995. Bulyash gave birth to seven children who are all educated. Bulyash also talks about her wedding and how she lived with her husband's family.
