Abstract

Ivan talks about what to do when one’s tooth falls off and when a chicken screams like a cock:When a tooth falls off, roll it inside a piece of bread and give it to a dog by saying: ‘I give you a bad tooth, and in return I take a good one’. If a chicken screams like a cock, it is a bad omen. When in 1945 Ivan’s father was arrested, a chicken screamed like a cock. The chicken was caught, brought into the house and thrown into the doorstep. In such a situation, if the chicken falls on the ground with its head protruding outside the doorstep, it has to be spared. If it falls with its tail outside, then it should be killed and eaten. Ivan also says that ghosts appear at night.
