Ivan Mengleev, A Kalmyk Wedding

Change log

Abstract

Ivan recalls how in 1939, when he was 5, he saw a Kalmyk bride. She had her head covered and was riding a horse, being flanked by two horsemen on either side. The bride was brought into the groom’s tent where she bowed down to Buddhas, the hearth and to ancestral spirits of her husband.
