Responsible Digitalisation and AI use for Local Authorities

Abstract

This report is based on discussions at a successful workshop held on 5th November 2024 with representatives from ten different local authorities in East of England (Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk) participated, including eight local planning and policy managers, three economic development officers, two digital technology managers and two digital solutions developers. In addition, the workshop included a representative from a local charity, one from the Local Government Association (LGA) and one from the Society for Innovation, Technology and Modernisation (Socitm). The workshop entailed presentations on and discussions about the DC2 Digital Innovation Process and Competency Framework, and explored the ethical issues arising from Digitalisation in general, and with the use of AI as part of efforts to create connected places.
