Abstract
This response shares my views on the government's draft 10-Year Infrastructure Strategy. Overall, I strongly support the Strategy’s focus on enabling growth, delivering clean energy, and strengthening social infrastructure. The principles set out — especially around prioritising key missions, building long-term confidence, and improving cross-sector delivery — feel like the right foundations for the future. In this submission, I offer reflections on each consultation question, including suggestions on areas that could make the Strategy even stronger, such as giving greater emphasis to digital innovation, climate resilience, social value, and flexibility to adapt over time. I highlight how a national spatial strategy could really help unlock regional potential, why a clear, regularly updated pipeline is critical for industry planning, and how departments and the new National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority (NISTA) can best work together to deliver on the ground. Ultimately, I believe the success of the Strategy will come down to consistent leadership, transparent communication with industry, and a willingness to embrace new technologies and approaches as the world around us evolves. I'm grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this important national conversation.
