Cross characteristic representations of odd characteristic symplectic groups and unitary groups (vol 299, pg 443, 2006)

Abstract

Theorem 3.2 of [3], formulated below, classifies cross characteristic representations Φ of finite symplectic and unitary groups G in which certain elements g of G satisfy the inequality dΦ(g) < o(g), where dΦ(g) is the degree of the minimal polynomial of Φ(g) and o(g) is the order of g modulo Z(G).
