Abstract
Following an initial assessment of an area of proposed housing development at Caxton, Cambridgeshire (NGR TL 30150/58480) a further trial trench was excavated. A ditch had been located which contained llth-12th century pottery. The sherds were large and unabraded which suggested that they were domestic refuse from a nearby settlement. A further trench was therefore required in order to establish whether any traces of that settlement were within the proposed area of development to the north of the ditch.
