Abstract
Considering the television series Ted Lasso in the context of orphan girl novels illuminates the television show (especially by drawing forward points about fatherhood and affective discipline) as well as the genre (especially by exposing problems in the outsider status that underlies it). The article uses this reflective analysis to make the argument that Humanities scholars who work in the margins of their fields should export their methodologies.
