Boris Dochkaev, Baazr Dara, a Kalmyk prayer

Change log

Abstract

In this video Boris talks about how he learnt about a Kalmyk prayer called Baazr Dara and then recites it. Boris heard about this prayer from a woman in 1992. At that time, the Dalai Lama XIV was visiting Kalmykia. Boris gave that woman a white and a red coin for sharing the prayer with him. Baazr Dara includes the names of various Buddhas, bodhisattvas, saints and gurus. This prayer grants people abilities and blessings. At the end of the video, Boris says that old Kalmyk prayers were destroyed by the Soviet government. Today prayers that people read in Kalmykia are in Tibetan, including Ganjur and Danjur.
