Editorial overview: Artificial intelligence (AI) methodology in structural biology.

Abstract

Rapid developments in performance and capability of AI-based methods are overthrowing established protocols, opening entirely new fields of application and providing opportunities to make headway on problems formerly thought intractable. The fields of structural biology and drug discovery are no exception as evidenced by the contributions to this special issue. In this Age of AI new advances seem to come at a daily rate; here our contributing authors take stock of the current state-of-the-art, describe the challenges that still exist, and look forward to the opportunities ahead.
