Abstract
Bembya says the following: Judging by some old texts and cult objects, it can be said that Kalmyk Buddhism did not differ very much from Tibetan Buddhism. The only differences were in the pronunciation of mantras and monks' clothing. Prayers that were read during matsg, or fasting, days were Tibetan prayers, although some were Kalmyk prayers. In the past, during matsag, people read prayers early in the morning and resumed after lunch. Before fasting, people also took Mahayana vows.
