Abstract
Dysregulation of lipid metabolism in diabetes mellitus is becoming increasingly evident from studies using blood serum. This study was a systemic analysis of a mouse model of diabetes, testing the hypothesis that the control of lipid metabolism differed in diabetic mice. We found evidence for changes in the systemic control of both triglyceride and phospholipid metabolism that are not attributable to dietary intake. The modulations in lipid metabolism were consistent with systemic changes during and after gestational diabetes. This work supports the conclusion that diabetes is a systemic condition associated with dysregulated lipid metabolism.
