Abstract

The increasing prevalence of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and point cloud technology has opened new avenues for the precise representation of as-built models in construction projects. This study explores the integration of the point cloud-derived Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) model with project schedules for assessment of construction schedule adherence. The study focuses on the comparison of IFC models generated from point cloud data against the as-designed BIM model with the aim of identifying deviations from the planned schedule. The methodology employs advanced techniques, including Python scripting in Dynamo, for automated schedule updates, ensuring real-time integration of as-built information into the BIM workflow. The study aims to establish a novel approach for construction project managers to effectively assess and manage schedule adherence by integrating real-time as-built information into the BIM workflow.
